artist statement
My work is deeply rooted in the art of printmaking that on occasion employs mixed media elements and forms. I see art as having multiple functions, as it can sometimes be a therapeutic experience for both the artist and audience. Taking inspiration from the culture of rock music and mental health, as I tend to create a visual mix that could be described as Macabre Surrealism. This approach delivers to viewers a graphic expression/language and allows me to explore areas of the human condition and psyche. By working in these areas and processes, I bring images/artworks into the world that serve as agents of advocacy that might destigmatize society’s perception of mental health and place a lens on how humans’ psychological, emotional, and social well-being can appear quite differently from one individual to the next.
